Patricelli Group Copenhagen

Patricelli Group Copenhagen is the outcome of collaborations with musicians of the Copenhagen music scene since 2007.
Members are pianist Maria Teresa Assing, saxophonist Gianni Bardaro, drummer Chano Olskær who stem from different
backgrounds, ranging from classical to jazz and improvised music.
The group is a composer-led ensemble, where the composer is also an active member of the group’s performance.
The instrumentation varies, according to the piece being performed, from solo piano to several possible combinations of sax,
piano and percussion.
The musical material is a blend of folk music, avant-garde, minimalism and elements of jazz. The programme is a collection of
pieces that elaborate the classical form of a study and it alternates between sophisticated arrangements and improvised sections.

Finisduo

Finisduo, in collaboration with the saxophonist Gianni Bardaro, is an example of the blending of the
elements of classical and jazz music.
The performance is more than just the juxtaposition of two kinds of music. It requires the performers to embellish the written
music as well as improvise at given sections, much in the spirit of jazz and in the true tradition of Baroque music in such a
manner that the listener is often unsure where the written music stops and the improvisations take over.
Together with works written by Mauro Patricelli and Gianni Bardaro themselves, Finisduo will perform the revised and newly
engraved 1997 edition of the Alto Sax and Piano Sonata, a "classic" cross-over work by the jazz-legend Phil Woods.

Drums & Piano Duo

This is a project that I worked on in Denmark in collaboration with the drummer/percussionist Chano Olskær.
It is a chamber music project and it explores the possibilities of the modern drum set when combined with the piano.
The pieces are derived from the Classical étude form and focus either on a single aspect of drums technique or a specific
sound mélange between piano and percussion.

Scura Maje Ensemble

In 2000 I founded the Scura Maje Ensemble, I named it after an ancient song from Abruzzo.
The ensemble of three musicians, the vocalist Diana Torto, the violinist Anton Berovski, and myself as pianist,
rapidly grew to five members involving the double bass player Marurizio Rolli and the the renowned saxophonist Javier
Girotto.
Most of the pieces I wrote for the ensemble are composed after traditional music from Abruzzo and were recorded in
two CDs: Scura Maje and La partenza della Sposa.

Scura Maje Trio

They premiered the two mentioned works at the Martha Argerich Festival in Lugano, in Switzerland, in June 2003.

Piano solo

A collection of pieces for solo piano, mainly written after ancient folk dances from Abruzzo. The cicle were recorded by me as pianist in the CD: Piano Solo.

Rabazera

This is a project that I worked on in Imola, in the Italian region of Emilia Romagna in collaboration with the singer Luisa Cottifogli and the drummer Simone Cavina.
It is a project that combines research on folk music and a series of possible approches to oral traditional music. The cicle were recorded in the CD: Rabazera for Choir and Ensemble (Voice, Violin, Guitar, Double Bass, Percussion and Piano).
